Using tile levelers should be standard, no excuses

Honestly, I see too many setters skip them and the tiles end up crooked. Tbh, it's lazy and hurts our rep.

Heard a contractor say skipping levelers actually costs more time fixing lippage later. Makes you wonder why anyone would risk a callback over a few cents per tile?

It's not always about the cost of the levelers themselves. Tbh, some guys think they can eyeball it or rely on a perfectly flat floor. Like on a big floor, if the subfloor has dips, no amount of skill prevents lippage without levelers. I've seen jobs where skipped levelers led to tiles cracking from stress points. Callbacks are one thing, but replacing cracked tiles eats way more profit. So risking it over a few cents is shortsighted, but some still do it to save time upfront.

My cousin's contracting business got sued after a client slipped on a lipped tile. The legal bills ate up the money from three big jobs. It's not just about callbacks or broken tiles, it's about being at fault for safety issues. Skipping levelers can make floors bumpy and dangerous. When people hear about a lawsuit, they won't hire you again. Saving a few cents per tile seems dumb when you're paying for lawyers, lmao.

Thought levelers wasted time, but callbacks show they save money.
