Unpopular opinion: A pinch of sugar in the mix is a game changer

I learned this from an old timer on a job site. He told me sugar can slow down the concrete when it's hot out. I didn't believe him until I tried it myself. It gave me more time to get a smooth finish. Now I always have some on hand for tough pours.

Shoutout to my kitchen timer for saving my coding focus

I used to skip sketching, but a client's feedback changed my mind

I always jumped straight into CAD for my drafting projects, thinking it was faster. Last month, a client asked for a quick sketch to see a concept before any digital work. That sketch showed me a big problem in my first idea that I would have missed on screen. Now I do rough paper sketches first, and it saves me a lot of time fixing things later. Do you ever start with hand drawings too?

New foreman hovering during boiler repairs is throwing me off

We got a new foreman after the old one retired, and now he's always looking over my shoulder during boiler repairs. I feel like I can't do my job right with him watching every weld. How do you deal with a boss who doesn't give you space?
