Oh man, the best was when you finally got it to stop rolling and it was just those color bars with the awful tone. Felt like you had to solve a puzzle just to see a movie, all that fiddling with the knob while the picture was just squiggly lines. Absolutely, @amycarr, you had to know the little trick! The tiny vertical hold knob on the back was the real fix for those rolling bars. It did feel weirdly rewarding when you finally got it to snap into place.
