Our yearly drive to the same lake has everyone split
We always go to Blue Lake for a week each summer, just like when I was little. Half the family loves the old routine and says it feels like coming home, but the other half thinks we should see new places instead. The same dock, the same picnic spot... it's nice but maybe too safe. What's your view on sticking with a nostalgic trip versus mixing it up?

Nah, why ruin a perfect thing?

You said "too safe" but that's the whole point for some people... like my family's cabin trip where we skip the same hike every year. What if you kept Blue Lake but tried one new thing? Like renting kayaks instead of just using the dock. That way you get the old feeling but also a fresh memory without losing what makes it home.

Actually we always skip the hike, not the dock stuff.

Mixing old habits with new activities stops cabin trips from feeling too samey. I heard on a podcast that families who try one new thing each year have more fun. Adding kayaks could be that fresh change without losing the dock time you love.
