Hot take: Saw a shoplifter, told the manager. Same person, same move, right after. Now I'm stuck on if I should have just walked away.

Man, I've been there. If you already told the manager and they didn't do anything, that's on them, not you. You did your part, so why carry the stress? Honestly, just walk away next time, you can't fix a store's problems for them.

Write down exactly what you reported and the date you told the manager. Honestly, keeping a record can help if the problem escalates and you need to contact corporate. Tbh, it also gives you peace of mind because you have solid proof you did your part. I've noticed managers often forget verbal talks but can't ignore written details.

Walking away lets the problem grow. Managers might drop the ball, but repeated theft hurts prices and jobs for everyone. You could call security directly next time or even contact corporate if the store won't act. Letting it go just makes it normal.

Honestly, after telling them once it's out of your hands. Like @garcia.laura said, you did your part so I'd just walk away next time.
