My sauerkraut airlock got clogged with kraut juice last night
It was my first time using a 1-gallon crock, and the pressure blew the lid right off around 2 AM. Has anyone else had this happen with a really active ferment?

My buddy had a batch of kimchi do that once. It was in a big jar and the lid shot off like a rocket, splattering chili paste all over his kitchen ceiling. He said it looked like a crime scene. Took him forever to clean the red stains off the white paint.

Oh man, that's rough. I switched to a loose lid instead of an airlock for my kraut. Just set it on top without sealing. Lets the gas escape without making a mess.

Yeah it's wild how many things in life need that little bit of breathing room. Like if you seal anything up too tight it's gonna blow eventually lol.
