Tbh, I see a lot of people messing up their fabric grain lines when they cut.
Honestly, if you don't line up the grain right, your whole garment can twist or hang weird. I learned this the hard way after making three skirts that all sat crooked. The trick is to find the true grain by pulling a thread along the cut edge before you pin your pattern. I use a cheap seam ripper to gently pull one thread out, which gives you a perfect straight line to follow. It adds maybe five minutes to your prep but saves so much frustration later. Has anyone else found a different method that works for keeping things on grain?

Ugh, the grainline struggle is real. Pulling a thread works, but what do you do with those slippery fabrics where the thread just snaps? I've tried the tear method on muslin, but that's a disaster waiting to happen with anything else. Have you found a reliable trick for knits or loose weaves that just won't give you a clean thread to pull?

Just grab a ruler and pray at that point.

Try a bright light behind the fabric to see the weave lines clearly. Mark with chalk along those visible rows instead of pulling threads. It works on tricky knits when nothing else will.
