Just realized that flat-locked stitching on workout tops prevents chafing during exercise.

Flat-locked stitching does more than just stop chafing. It also makes the seams much stronger so the shirt lasts longer. This is a big deal for people who work out a lot because their clothes go through a lot of wear and tear. Most folks don't know about this benefit when they buy workout gear. That extra durability means less waste from thrown-out clothes.

That point about flat-locked stitching preventing chafing is so true. I used to get awful chafing from my old workout shirts until I tried one with flat seams. It made a huge difference, especially on long runs.

So the flat seams make the shirt stronger too? That's a solid bonus. Does that mean the whole shirt lasts longer, or just the seams themselves hold up better?
