So my accountant's office had this weirdly specific chart about pet costs and it made me redo our whole emergency fund

Totally agree with @max_torres44, that physical therapy stuff adds up fast. Had to open a separate savings account just for my cat's weird health issues.

Honestly, that chart sounds like a wake-up call. Most people just budget for food and vet basics, but things like emergency surgery or even pet sitting during a hospital stay can wipe you out. It's smart to treat a pet like a dependent with its own line in the family budget. I had to do the same thing after my dog needed physical therapy, which was not cheap at all.

What kind of chart was it, a full color breakdown of how many chew toys equal one dental cleaning? Mine just sends a scary number in an email. I had to start a fund after my dog ate a sock and the vet bill looked like a car payment. Now I'm saving for potential squirrel-related incidents too.
