My morning coffee routine in Denver was stressing me out for a year
I realized I was rushing to drink it while scrolling on my phone, missing the whole point. How do you actually enjoy your first cup without getting distracted?

A buddy of mine had the same problem with his espresso. He started leaving his phone in another room for just ten minutes. Now he says the steam and the first bitter sip are the best part of his day.

It's funny how the phone is the distraction, but we blame the coffee. What if the problem is we expect every morning to feel special?

Started putting my phone on silent and leaving it face down on the counter. I'd just stare out the window at the backyard for those few minutes. Watched the same squirrel do the same dumb stuff every day. That quiet time with the mug warming my hands became the real wake-up call, not the caffeine. The phone can wait.
