inTried to watch that new 'epic' fantasy everyone's raving about...
Linda's totally right about dropping the homework shows. It's like some writers forget they're making TV, not a college lecture. A pilot should be a promise of the best version of the show. The Bear hooks you with that kitchen chaos right away, and you learn about the characters while you're already invested in the stress. Starting with a bang makes you want to learn the quiet details later.

inSerious question, has anyone else had a server rack just start beeping for no clear reason?
That low beep is the worst. Had one last month that turned out to be a dying CMOS battery on an old firewall, no system alert at all. Sometimes it's a sensor that failed open on a PSU. My method now is to just start yanking power cords one at a time from the back until the noise stops, then you know which device is singing. Saves a ton of time over just listening.

inA guy at a truck stop in Flagstaff showed me a trick with a zip tie and a glow plug
True, a test light is way safer for that.

inI was at the big manufacturing trade show in Chicago and saw a booth where they said their new control software could run a 5-axis job with zero manual offsets.
Watched a guy try to use one of those "zero touch" systems last year. He spent more time talking to the tech support line than he would have just touching off the tools himself. The software kept asking if the part was "in a happy place." My old manual mill never needed a mood check.

inMy 'quick' garage cleanout turned into a two day project
My garage has that same problem, it's like a museum of good intentions. I went in to find a screwdriver last week and ended up rebuilding a lawnmower carburetor I haven't used since 2019. The floor is still covered in tools but now the mower sort of runs. Total victory and also a complete failure.
