Went against the grain and left a clay mask on for 25 minutes on a client with oily skin, and the results were surprisingly not a disaster.
The mask dried completely, but instead of over-stripping, it actually helped regulate her oil production for a full three days, so maybe the standard 10-15 minute rule isn't a one-size-fits-all for that skin type?

Is that a good idea to risk on a client though? One time it works doesn't mean the rule is wrong.

Oh man, @the_alice, I get why you'd say that. Rules are there for safety. But I had this one regular who always wanted their packages left at the side door, which was technically against policy. After a few months of seeing it was totally safe and they were super cool about it, I just started doing it. Built way better trust with them. Sometimes the rule is more like a guideline if you know the person and the situation.

You're right @the_alice, the rule exists for a reason. I've still taken a few smart risks with long term clients who really get our process, and it's paid off. Just gotta know which battles to pick.
