Sorting through a bin of broken laptops made me rethink e-waste.

I was fixing a 2015 model for a client, just a screen and battery swap. The main board was still good, so I pulled it for spares. Now I save every working part from junk devices, which cuts down on trash and saves cash. It's a small change, but it adds up fast.

Glad you mentioned that. My own version is turning into a weird hobby where I save every old charger and cord, convinced they'll be useful someday. It makes me a digital pack rat, but it feels less bad than tossing perfectly good bits. Your way is actually smart though, pulling the whole board. Mine mostly just fills a drawer until I trip over it. Still, keeping stuff out of the landfill, even by accident, has to count for something.

Yeah, I've got a whole shoebox dedicated to that kind of thing. It's like a graveyard for every USB cable I've ever owned. I tell myself I'm being smart, but really it's just hoarding with good intentions. Every time I need a specific cord, I dig through it and never find the right one. Still, like you said, at least it's not in a dump somewhere.

Found my own parts collection looks more like a sad tech museum than a useful stash.
