Tbh, my inflatable pad decided to deflate at midnight on a rocky slope.

My buddy Mike tried that once on a camping trip, woke up stiff as a board. He'd probably tell you, @nora691, that it just gave him a bad back for a week. I'm not convinced rocks make you tough, just sore.

Rant: My friend thought my archaeology find was a toy from a gift shop

Reminds me of when I found this cool fossil once and had no clue how old it was!

Holding off on stocks for a decade worked for me...

Missing the worst days helps, but missing the best days kills your returns. A 20% drop needs a 25% gain just to break even, and those big up years do most of the heavy lifting. Isn't the real cost of waiting the compound growth you never get back?

Pro tip: I skip detailed pre-launch surveys to save time

Hold up, that last part isn't quite right. Watching how people use stuff can show problems they never talked about. People often don't know what they need until they see it. A survey asks for opinions, but actions show real habits. You can spot gaps when you see them struggle with current tools. So observing use is key even if they didn't seek a solution first.

Sorting through a bin of broken laptops made me rethink e-waste.

Yeah, I've got a whole shoebox dedicated to that kind of thing. It's like a graveyard for every USB cable I've ever owned. I tell myself I'm being smart, but really it's just hoarding with good intentions. Every time I need a specific cord, I dig through it and never find the right one. Still, like you said, at least it's not in a dump somewhere.
