Question about marketing at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival

I was handing out branded pens at the Folk Fest last summer, and a lawyer asked if my firm did any online ads. I said no, and he just laughed and said, 'You're at a festival but not on Google?' It made me switch our whole budget to local search ads. Has anyone else had a client find them in a weird place?

Honestly, that lawyer sounds out of touch. Folk Fest is a perfect spot for real life connections that online ads can't buy. You had a person right there, holding your pen and talking to you. That's worth more than a thousand clicks from someone who just closes the tab. Switching your whole budget based on one snarky comment is a panic move. Offline marketing builds a real, local reputation that lasts longer than an ad campaign.

That lawyer had a point though, even if he was rude about it. Folk Fest is great for pens and chats, but people go home and forget the logo. They remember the problem they had and google it. Running some search ads means you show up right when they're looking. It's not about picking one or the other, you gotta do both. The real world gets their attention, and google seals the deal when they're ready to buy.

Totally get what dakota415 is saying about real life connections. I had a client find me because my truck was parked outside a coffee shop they liked. They saw my logo every morning for a month and finally called when their drain clogged. That's trust you can't buy with an ad. The guy with the pen at the festival was already halfway to making a friend, which is way better than just being another link in the search results.
