Just had a client bail because our Google Maps listing showed the wrong hours

I was at my desk in Edmonton last Tuesday checking analytics when I got a call from a pissed off potential client. Said they drove 20 minutes to our office at 9am on a Saturday and we were locked up tight. Turns out our Google profile was still set to pre-COVID hours. We lost that file to a competitor down the street. Anyone else had a listing mixup cost them real money?

Used to think those listings didn't matter much, but after losing a solid contract because our address was wrong on Bing, I totally get it now. That stuff costs you real work.

Gotta disagree - most clients find you through word of mouth, not some website listing.

Lost a solid contract because your address was wrong on Bing" - wow, that's like leaving cash sitting on the sidewalk because you wrote the wrong house number on a napkin. Bing's gotta be the most ignored platform until something like this happens, right? Funny how we all blow it off until it bites us in the wallet, then suddenly we're triple-checking our listing on every site that exists. Hope that contract wasn't one of those big ones that pays your mortgage for a few months, because that would sting even more.
