Just realized how stopping my daily writing practice ended my novel dream.

People drop hobbies all the time. Calling it a "dream" makes it sound way more dramatic than it is. If you really wanted to finish a novel, you'd find a way to write without making it a whole daily ritual. Maybe the dream wasn't that strong to begin with.

Ugh, felt that. What was it about the daily practice that made you stop, though? Was the word count goal too much, or did you just lose the thread of the story itself?

You know, when you ask what made me stop the daily practice... it wasn't really the word count or losing the thread. I mean, those things can be part of it, but for me, it was more about the pressure itself. Having to write every single day made it feel like a chore instead of something fun. I started dreading sitting down to write because it was this rigid rule I set. So I stopped to get back to why I wanted to write in the first place, just for the joy of it. Maybe that sounds silly, but forcing it daily took the spark out.

Yeah, same here. Turning anything fun into a daily rule just kills it for me. It stops being something you want to do and starts being another box to check. That pressure to perform, even for yourself, makes the whole thing feel empty. Letting go of the schedule was the only way to find the fun in it again.
