Vent: I miss paper maps on road trips honestly

I used to plan every road trip by spreading a giant paper map across my kitchen table in Portland, marking routes with a highlighter. Now I just punch an address into my phone and go, but I feel like I miss half the weird little towns and scenic detours. My dad taught me to read maps when I was 12, and last week I realized I haven't touched one in over 5 years. Does anyone else feel like GPS killed the adventure of getting a little lost?

That Tuesday in Atlanta when every torque check went wrong

Last week I had a shift where three different torque checks failed on the same 737 wheel hub in Atlanta. Turned out the sealant we used was too thick and it threw off the drag readings by 8 ft-lbs. The lead mechanic Dave caught it when he re-did the whole thing with a different sealant and it passed fine. Has anyone else had sealant mess with their torque numbers like that?

Been doing broom finishes backwards for like 2 years

Was finishing a driveway in Phoenix last month and this older guy walks over and watches me for a min. He asks why I'm starting my broom strokes at the expansion joint instead of the edge. Told me I been pushing water and fines into the joints the whole time making them weak. I felt like such a idiot. He showed me his method starting at the forms and dragging towards the joint. Now my joints dont look like garbage anymore. Anybody else learn basic stuff way later than they should have?
