The layer trick that cut my drafting time by 40%

I used to keep every single element on one layer like a fool. After 6 months of dealing with chaotic revisions, I started using separate layers for dimensions, annotations, and the main drawing. Has anyone else found a specific layer setup that saves them the most headaches?

Keeping everything on one layer forces me to be more careful upfront" - that's the exact reason I don't mess with extra layers. That extra caution upfront means I catch my own mistakes before they get buried under 15 layers of annotations. More layers just means more places to hide a mistake instead of fixing it right away.

Isn't it funny how we all learn the hard way that messy layers are like keeping every piece of paper in your life on one desk? Once I started separating my stuff into folders at home (bills, receipts, random notes) I stopped losing everything too.

Maybe it's just me but throwing everything on one layer actually forces me to be more careful upfront. I've found that sorting stuff into too many layers just gives me extra clicks and scrolling for no real payoff. Sometimes keeping it simple really is faster in the long run.

That messy desk comparison hits home - separate folders saved me too.
