Hit 500 cleaned houses last month and it caught me off guard

Was just going through my books for tax stuff and added up how many jobs I've done since I started my cleaning business 4 years ago. 512 total. That number kinda hit me hard. I remember being scared to quit my old job and now I've been in over 500 strangers houses scrubbing their toilets. Anyone else ever add up a milestone like that and realize you've been doing this way longer than you thought?

Wait "512"?? That's wild. I had to read that twice because that number is just... a lot. Not just the 500 but the extra 12 on top makes it feel even more real somehow. I bet you've seen some truly weird stuff in those houses too. People really let strangers into their homes and you've done it over 500 times, that's just insane when you stop and think about it.

the extra 12 on top makes it feel even more real" - yeah that's exactly it. 500 is a round number, almost theoretical. 512 is specific. It means I've walked into someone's house, shaken their hand, and probably seen their weird collection of porcelain dolls 512 separate times. The stuff you see is less shocking and more just... human. Like the guy who answered the door in full knight costume last Tuesday. Or the lady who had a wall of just photos of her cat. Not even her family, just the cat. You learn to just nod and move on.

Totally agree with you on that. The number just hits different when you say it out loud, doesn't it? 512 houses is a lot of walking into strangers' living rooms and kitchens. I've done some service calls myself, not that many, but enough to know people leave out some weird stuff. It's like they forget you're coming over and just leave their whole life out in the open. Gotta give the pros who do that every day some serious credit for keeping a straight face.
