Was dead set against those 'plastic anchor' things for shelves until my bathroom remodel
I always thought they were flimsy junk and just used toggle bolts, but last month I had to hang a cabinet on thin tile and the drywall anchors actually held up better than expected. Anyone else change their mind about a cheap hardware hack after giving it a real try?

...but is it really that serious though? I mean yeah they held up in your bathroom but that's like one thin cabinet not exactly a full shelf of books or canned goods. My buddy used those plastic anchors for a TV mount once and it ripped right out of the wall after a month, lucky the TV didn't break. Maybe if you're hanging something light and temporary they're fine but I wouldn't trust them for anything you actually care about staying put. Idk call me old school but I'll stick with toggle bolts for the real stuff.

Yeah I've heard similar from a buddy who did that. He was always a toggle bolt guy too, but he put up some heavy shelving in his garage with those plastic ones and said they never budged.
