Our library's new digital art wall is a welcome change
I noticed my local library added a screen for digital art displays. Getting my work included last month was a small win I'm happy about. Is this becoming more common in other areas?

My piece was just some abstract shapes, so maybe it helped people focus by being genuinely boring. It wasn't some bright, flashing animation. Libraries probably just need to be smart about where they put these things and how bright they are. A constant slideshow in a silent study room is a bad call. But in a lobby or common area, it's a nice way to show local stuff. I guess my art's superpower is being ignorable.

Cool for your art, but these screens often distract from quiet reading spaces.

Our library's quiet floor has a rule that all display screens face away from the reading carrels. You only see them if you're walking to the stairs.

Totally get what @jesse_fox means. Even with cool art, screens can pull your focus away when you're trying to read. I've been in libraries where the glow from displays makes it hard to concentrate. Maybe having them in busier areas would help keep quiet spots truly quiet?
