Hot take: Eastern Market on a Tuesday morning hits different
I swung by Eastern Market this past Tuesday just to pick up some office snacks for my crew, and I swear it was quieter but way more real than the weekend crowds. There's this older guy running a small pepper stand near the Shed 3 entrance, been there 22 years he told me, and he spent 10 minutes explaining which peppers hold up best for hot sauce. It made me think about how many small business owners in Detroit grind through the off days when nobody's watching. Any other local owners find hidden gems or better deals on the slower market days?

That pepper guy, 22 years is a real run. Did he mention if Tuesday regulars are mostly chefs or just neighborhood folks stocking up for the week? Always curious who the real repeat customers are when the crowds die down.

Nah I think it's mostly chefs during the week. The neighborhood crowd hits Saturday morning but Tuesday is different. I've been going there for about 5 years now and you see the same kitchen guys in whites grabbing cases of habaneros and ghost peppers. They're buying in bulk for their restaurants, not just a couple for home cooking. The market knows that too because they keep the wholesale pricing on Tuesday mornings before 10am. Regular folks don't usually plan their grocery run around a Tuesday.
