That family photo pile I kept for 7 years finally got tossed

I was sitting on my bedroom floor last Saturday staring at a box of old school photos and family prints I had been lugging through three moves. One got wet from a leaky pipe and the ink smeared into a blurry mess, which made me realize I hadn't looked at any of them in years. How do you decide what memories are worth keeping when the stuff itself is just paper?

That's the thing nobody talks about - paper memories are heavy but digital ones feel like nothing. We keep stuff out of guilt not joy.

Honestly, my digital photo folder is basically a graveyard of blurry sunsets and food I was too afraid to delete. Tbh, I'd probably feel less guilt tossing an actual shoebox full of those than wiping a whole folder, but at least the digital ones don't physically take up closet space. Ngl, the only reason I keep that folder is pure guilt over the person I was back then who thought every single screenshot was important. Paper memories at least make you pick up a box, digital ones just haunt your cloud storage forever.

Wait, THREE moves?? You carried that box through three whole relocations and never opened it once?? That's kind of wild to me (but also I get it, we all have that one box of stuff). Honestly though, the leaky pipe deciding for you is almost a relief in a weird way - like the universe just said "okay, I'm taking this choice out of your hands." I've got a similar pile in my closet right now and I keep telling myself "next spring cleaning for sure" but we all know how that goes. Paper memories are heavy in more ways than one, aren't they?
