The "authentic" ramen shop in Tokyo was actually a tourist trap

I went to this famous spot in Shinjuku last month that everyone raves about online. The broth was thin and the noodles were overcooked, but the line was still 40 minutes long. I think people are just posting for the Instagram shot, not the actual food. Has anyone else found a hyped place that just didn't deliver?

That ramen spot in Shinjuku is totally overrated. I tried it two years ago and the chashu was dry like cardboard. Tourists line up because some travel blogger slapped a "hidden gem" label on it back in 2019. Real good ramen is in the side alleys where nobody takes photos.

Wait, did you catch that video breakdown by some ramen dude on YouTube last month? He mapped the exact moment that spot went viral and showed how the quality dipped right after the blogger post. Your dry chashu complaint lines up with what he was saying about them rushing the braising process to keep up with demand. I remember he mentioned a specific alley in Golden Gai where a retired ramen master works out of a tiny 4-seat joint, no english menu, just hand-painted signs. That's the kind of place where you actually taste the hours someone put into the broth, not the hype.
