Thought my $18 rice cooker was junk after it quit mid batch, then I opened the lid
Last Tuesday I dumped a cup of jasmine rice in, hit cook, and 20 minutes later it was still crunchy and cold, so I figured the thing was dead and started pricing new ones on my phone. Before tossing it I flipped it over and found the little spring tab on the inner pot was bent, which meant it never sat flush and the sensor read the temp wrong. I bent it back with my thumb, ran another batch, and the rice came out perfect, so I ate my words along with a bowl of it. Now I keep wondering how many things I've pitched after one bad day instead of looking for the one small bent part. What's something you almost threw out that just needed a tiny fix?
Ever try a dead lamp that just needed the bulb twisted tighter? My buddy almost trashed his grandma's old table lamp over that, turns out one of the little wires inside the socket was just loose.
