Switched from proofing my bread in the oven to just on the counter last week

Actually @jenny47 makes a fair point about the cost being tiny, but there's another angle that gets overlooked. That little bulb generates heat, and in an oven that's already hot from cooking, it's no big deal. But if you're like me and you leave the oven light on for hours after the oven is off just to see in the kitchen at night, that heat is actually making your fridge or freezer work harder if they're nearby. My kitchen is small and my oven sits right next to the fridge, so that bulb is basically a tiny heater fighting against my fridge's cooling. Over a whole night, the fridge kicking on more often starts to add up in a way people don't think about. So yeah, it's not the bulb's electricity cost that matters, it's the hidden stuff it makes other appliances do.

Was totally against meal delivery kits until my sister forced me to try one last month

Have you noticed whether you actually eat more veggies with the kits or just stick to what you know?

Am I the only one who uses a cheap garden hose instead of expensive dive gear for deck cleaning?

Barnacles on a 40 footer ain't just a cosmetic issue either, I've seen them clog up raw water intakes on old Mercruisers and cause the engine to overheat in under 10 minutes if you don't scrape 'em off weekly. The real hidden cost nobody talks about is how a thin layer of growth can throw off your fuel burn by 15-20% on a long run, which adds up fast on a big gas bill. So maybe a little barnacle won't sink you, but it'll sure drain your wallet before you even get back to the dock.

Overheard a customer say my sourdough was 'too authentic'

Ha, yeah @piper779 that's rough but also kinda funny. I've definitely been on the receiving end of some brutal food feedback too - my first attempt at sourdough got called "dense enough to use as a doorstop." It stings but honestly it pushed me to actually learn what I was doing wrong. Your buddy probably just needed a little less starter and a shorter bulk ferment, thats what fixed mine. Solidarity man, baking crits hurt different than other stuff.

Cloud kitchens are killing real restaurant food

Blamed the ghost kitchens for making me eat my own words about loving burgers.
