The grocery store line choice used to be simple

Three years ago, I'd grab a cart and just get in the shortest line, no question. Last month, I stood there for a full minute deciding between the fast cashier with the full belt and the self-checkout with the '10 items or less' sign. Last week, I actually picked the longer line because the cashier looked less tired and I wanted a human interaction. It's a tiny thing, but it feels like the whole 'efficiency vs. connection' debate happens every Tuesday now at Food Fair. Anyone else overthink the checkout lane?

That full minute you spent deciding, what tipped the scales?

My local store's self-checkout line moves faster, but I get what @lee847 means.

My buddy once picked a line for the cute cashier.
