Stopped buying expensive cookware after I burned my 80 dollar nonstick pan last Thursday
Switched to a cheap carbon steel wok from the Asian grocery store and now I can actually sear meat without crying, has anyone else found a random swap that fixed a kitchen problem?

Solidarity on dumping expensive gear, that carbon steel wok sounds like a solid win.

Nah carbon steel is solid but it's not exactly a win over nonstick in every way. You gotta season it right or stuff sticks like crazy, especially eggs. I've ruined a few omelets learning that the hard way lol.
