My water heater gave out at the worst possible time
Came home last Tuesday to a flooded basement in Minneapolis. The 15 year old Rheem finally rusted through. I patched it with a hose clamp and rubber sheet to buy time, but had to drop $1,200 on a new one the next day. Anybody else find that water heaters always break on a holiday or a weekend?

Always break on a holiday or weekend" is basically the rule. My buddy's heater blew on Christmas Eve last year and he had to haul cold water from the bathtub to flush his toilet for three days.

Knight.felix, that's brutal. I had my water heater die on a Saturday night a few years back. What actually saved me was keeping a few five-gallon jugs in the garage. I just filled them up at a friend's house down the street and used one for flushing and one for sponge baths. In my experience, having those jugs on hand is way easier than hauling buckets from the bathtub. Takes some planning but beats the heck out of boiling water or cold showers. Hope your buddy got his sorted out without too much more misery.

Always break on a holiday or weekend" is so true. Mine blew on Father's Day, had to boil water for baths.
