Rant: I skipped two-factor authentication and paid for it
My online banking had a security alert because I didn't set up two-factor when they offered it. Now I'm dealing with a locked account and extra verification steps. Has anyone else found a good way to remember to use these features?

Tell me about it, forgetting that stuff is basically a universal password struggle now.

Ugh, I reset mine at least twice a month.

Wait, you can reset your two-factor twice a month? That sounds like a different problem, maybe with an authenticator app. For most logins, you set up two-factor once and then it just asks for a code when you sign in from a new device. The trick is to use an app like Authy or Google Authenticator from the start, so you're not waiting on a text.

Man, I got locked out of my social media account for the same reason last year. It took days to get back in, and I missed important messages. What works for me is linking two-factor to something I do every day, like checking my phone in the morning. I set up all my security stuff then, so it becomes a routine. Forgetting it just isn't worth the hassle anymore, you know? Once you go through the recovery process once, you won't skip it again.
