My coworker's password advice saved me from a lockout

Last Tuesday my coworker Dana told me to stop reusing my old bank password for work accounts after she saw me type it in. I shrugged it off until our IT guy flagged 14 login attempts on my account from a foreign IP that same afternoon. Has anyone else ignored simple advice like that and nearly paid for it?

Honestly, maybe Dana was just trying to be dramatic. I get the whole foreign IP thing sounds scary, but most of those alerts are automated noise, and the system usually blocks them anyway. Changing every password right away just makes you forget them and end up locked out of everything, which is worse. Though @the_jake, if you do change them all, at least you'll sleep better at night, I guess.

Did you change every account that shared that password, or just work ones?
