Pro tip: I got my credit limit raised by $3k just by calling at the right time
I've had my main card for about 2 years and the limit was stuck at $5,000. Last Tuesday, I called customer service right after making a big payment on my statement balance. I just asked if they could do a review for an increase. The rep checked my account and approved it on the spot, no hard pull. I think calling right after you show you can pay a big chunk works way better than just requesting online. Has anyone else had luck with a specific timing trick like this?

My buddy works for a card company and says the system auto-flags accounts on Friday afternoons when they run weekly reports. That's his secret time to call.

Timing is everything. I call right after a big purchase posts, seems to work better.

Watch for vacation photos too. People post a beach shot, then get home to a maxed out card and a pile of bills. That's when they're most likely to pick up. Also, right after someone brags about a new car or a fancy kitchen reno. The high wears off, the reality sets in, and the phone starts ringing.
