Just found out most portfolio sites are blocking Google from seeing your work
I was digging through my analytics last night and noticed my images weren't showing up in search results. Turns out, a lot of creative portfolio platforms automatically add noindex tags to your image files by default. I had to manually change the settings in my Squarespace account to get my photography indexed. Has anyone else caught their hosting platform hiding their work from search engines?

The_jake nailed it with "had to dig through three different support chat threads" because that's exactly where they bury these settings. It's crazy how these platforms make you hunt for something that should be a basic toggle. Even worse, some of them hide the option behind a paid upgrade or a custom code workaround. So you're not just fighting with settings, you're fighting with their business model trying to squeeze more money out of you. Did you end up switching hosts or just dealing with the manual fix every time you upload new work?

Ran into this exact thing last year with my own site. Spent a week wondering why my project photos weren't getting any traction. Turned out my host was blocking Google images by default. Drove me nuts. Had to dig through three different support chat threads to find the fix buried in the settings.

@thomas_torres I actually see it a little different. Most hosts hide those settings for a reason mostly to avoid abuse from bots, not to nickel and dime you.
