Overheard a new guy at the site talking about his rig's swing radius

I was grabbing coffee this morning and heard a young operator telling his spotter he never really checks the swing radius chart for his 80-ton Grove anymore, he just 'feels it out'. That made me stop cold. We were setting steel on a tight downtown block in Cleveland, and feeling it out is a fast way to clip a building or, worse, a person. I pulled him aside after and showed him the worn chart in my own cab. Has anyone else had to step in when you heard a coworker skipping a basic safety step?

That's not just a crane thing, it's everywhere now. People skip the manual and just guess, treating serious tools like they're apps. It's a lazy mindset that gets people hurt.

But come on, how many things actually need a full manual? Most stuff is pretty simple to figure out.

Tbh it's also about how manuals are written. They're often confusing legal documents instead of clear step-by-step guides. A good quick-start guide with pictures would actually get used.
