Blew $80 on a 'miracle' plant food that my grandma swore by, only to kill all three of my ferns in 2 days.

The liquid was thick and smelled like rotten eggs, but I trusted her garden stories from the 70s, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has fallen for an old family tip that backfired completely.

Did your grandma actually use that stuff recently or was she just going off memory from 50 years ago?

Seriously, "memory from 50 years ago" kind of gets me thinking. Did she actually taste it recently or is this just a story she tells at family dinners? My own grandma swears her biscuit recipe was "perfect" but I tried it last year and it was basically a salt lick. So I'm curious, did you see her make the dinner or just hear about it?

Maybe it's not that deep. Worst case she's wrong and you eat some breakfast food for dinner.
