The cashier who pointed out my empty cart in a Kroger parking lot
Last Saturday I grabbed a basket at Kroger in Nashville, piled in snacks and frozen stuff, then stood in line for 12 minutes only to realize my card got declined at the register so I put everything back on the shelf. The cashier watched me do it and said, 'You're not buying this because you're broke, you're buying it because you're stressed.' I walked out with nothing and sat in my car for a bit, then went back in and bought just a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter. Anyone else ever had a stranger call out the real reason you were shopping and it actually made you rethink your whole budget?

That cashier must moonlight as a therapist or something, because that's way too sharp for a Tuesday at Kroger. I once had a guy at Target tell me I looked like I was "shopping for feelings" when I had three bags of chips and a candle in my cart. Didn't buy anything either, just went home and stared at my fridge like it owed me money.
