My uncle told me to always buy the cheapest tools, and it cost me a whole weekend
He said, 'They all come from the same factory,' so I got a $15 socket set from a hardware store. The 10mm socket split on the third bolt, leaving the head stuck in my old Honda's engine bay. Anyone have a good story about when bargain advice went totally wrong?

Your uncle and mine must shop at the same place. I tried that with a cheap drill, the chuck fell off and put a hole in my drywall. Spent more on spackle than a decent tool would have cost. The bargain bin is where good weekends go to die.

Yeah but sometimes the cheap stuff surprises you, @marywilson. My old off-brand drill is still kicking after years of light use. It really depends on the brand and what you're asking it to do.

Ever had a drill try to kill you too?
