My boss pulled me into a room in July 2022 and asked why I stopped pushing for the supervisor job
I told her I decided the pay bump wasn't worth missing my kid's games, and she just nodded and said she turned down the same offer when her son was 9. Has anyone else had a boss surprise them like that when you finally said the real reason out loud?
Been there. My old manager did the same thing when I told her I was done chasing the lead spot, said she passed on it twice when her kids were little. Made me feel way less weird about it.
One thing though. Put it in writing next time. Even just an email to yourself with the date and what was said. Covers you if someone higher up starts asking why you turned it down.
Also ask her flat out if the job can be done part time or with flex hours. Sometimes they say no. Sometimes they surprise you again.
