A librarian's quiet comment on my book choices opened my mind.

I always stuck to the same types of books, thinking they were the only good ones. The librarian noticed and suggested a history book I hadn't thought of. I read it and was amazed by how much I learned. Now I explore all sorts of topics. Her simple nudge broke my reading rut for good.

Break your reading rut by asking librarians for their most random book recommendation.

Ever tried asking for the weirdest book they've ever read?

Honestly this is why I love talking to librarians. They see past the safe picks everyone talks about online. Tbh it feels like we do this with everything now, only asking for stuff we already know we'll like. We get the same recommended movies, the same viral recipes, the same life advice. Asking for the weirdest book is a small act of rebellion against that whole system. It lets someone show you a piece of their actual taste, not just the crowd-pleaser.

Isn't their 'random' pick often just a favorite they're pushing? Maybe ask for something they never recommend instead.
