My old laptop took 45 minutes just to load the basic memory test screen. @lucas_kelly is right, the waiting was built into the whole annoying thing. It felt like a waste of a good afternoon. Now it's over in a blink and I don't miss the old way at all.

Totally get that. The whole slow build felt like part of the process itself. Made you plan your day around it instead of just getting a result.

Yeah, the "plan your day around it" part just felt like a hassle to me. It wasn't some meaningful process, it was just annoying. I was always glad when things got faster.
