Warning: My comic con experience showed me how to talk to anyone

I used to be really shy at events. But after going to a few comic cons, I figured out how to start conversations with strangers. It all began when I asked someone about their cosplay. Now I can chat with anyone about shared interests. This skill helped me at my real estate job too. I even made new friends because of it. Who knew comics could teach you that?

Wow... nerdy stuff often teaches you the real stuff.

Learned more about plumbing from online games than from my landlord, actually.

Honestly, I have to disagree on that one. A lot of nerdy topics get so focused on small details that they skip over practical knowledge. In the end, it can feel more like hobby stuff than learning real world things.
