TIL my gym's 'no chalk' rule made me realize I'd been lying to myself about my grip strength
I was at my climbing gym in Denver last month and got told to put my chalk away, and I realized I'd been blaming sweaty hands for years when my grip was just weak. Started doing farmer carries twice a week with 2 45 lb plates and my deadhang went from 20 to 50 seconds in six weeks. Anyone else find out a 'rule' was actually hiding a bigger problem you didn't want to face?
Man, I feel called out. My gym banned chalk too and I told myself it was a skin thing for like two years. Turns out I just had the grip of a wet noodle.
