So I spent $400 on a fancy air purifier for my apartment

I've always thought those things were kind of a scam for worried people, you know? But my allergies got really bad this spring, and I saw a video saying it could help. I bought this big one online and set it up in my living room. For a whole week, I felt the same, and I was sure I'd just wasted my money on a noisy box. Then I had to turn it off to clean the filter, and within a few hours, I was sneezing non-stop and my head felt stuffy. I guess it was actually working the whole time, and I just didn't notice because the change was so slow. It's weird to realize you were wrong about something you were so sure of. Has anyone else had a thing they thought was pointless turn out to be really useful?

Nah, still seems like a waste... unlike @simonp76's thermometer.

Watched my buddy scoff at his wife for buying a weighted blanket, called it a glorified beanbag. He had a rough week at work and couldn't sleep, so he finally tried it out of pure frustration. Woke up the next morning and said he hadn't slept that hard since he was a kid. Now he fights the dog for it every night.

That feeling when you prove yourself wrong is a special kind of humble pie. I was the same about those fancy kitchen thermometers, swore they were for show-offs. Now I can't cook a piece of chicken without one.
