I disagree with everyone who says tarps are fine for long term storage
I stored my 1967 Mustang under a heavy duty tarp for 2 years in my backyard in Portland. When I pulled it off last month, the paint had this weird cloudy moisture damage that wasn't there before. Everyone told me tarps breathe enough, but mine clearly trapped humidity underneath. Has anyone else had this problem with car covers that aren't specifically breathable?

Learned that lesson the hard way too, except my tarp turned my project car into a mold farm. Guess we both found out tarps are great for keeping rain off but terrible at letting trapped sweat out.

Did you try anything like putting a PVC frame under the tarp to keep it off the car? I've heard that helps with airflow, but I haven't tested it myself. My issue was the tarp sagging and holding water against the paint, which is just as bad as rain. Seems like these covers only work if you get the fit exactly right and check on them every few weeks.
