Finally got that $800 inspection camera and it just paid for itself

Found a huge hidden crack in a flue liner yesterday that I would have totally missed, saved me from a nasty callback. Anyone else have a tool that felt like a splurge but ended up being essential?

Yeah @wilson.joseph has a point about it paying for itself later. I read a blog that said the same thing, that these tools are more about avoiding future costs.

Flue liners are a weird one because you can't really see them without a camera. That's a great find. The only thing is, that camera didn't pay for itself yet. It saved you from a callback, but you still spent the $800. It'll pay for itself after a few more jobs like that. Still, catching that crack early is a huge win.

Totally true about the camera cost. Had the same thing happen with a blocked vent last month. Felt good to spot it before it became a real problem.
