Wasted $140 on those fancy meal prep containers that were supposed to last forever
Last year I bought a 20 pack of glass meal prep containers from a trendy kitchen store because I wanted to stop using plastic. After about 3 months, half of the lids cracked and wouldn't seal anymore. I tried contacting customer service and they said the lids aren't covered under warranty. So now I'm back to using old plastic takeout containers that work just fine. Has anyone else found a set of meal prep containers where the lids actually hold up longer than a few months?

That's heartbreaking honestly because I had almost the exact same thing happen with a set I bought from Target for like $30. The glass itself is fine but after maybe 2 months the plastic lids started warping in the dishwasher and now they don't snap on right at all. I've been using the same old Rubbermaid plastic ones my mom gave me like 5 years ago and they still seal perfectly. It's so frustrating that companies advertise these as durable and eco-friendly but then the most important part breaks immediately. I've started just buying the cheap glass ones from IKEA and using whatever random lids fit from my collection of old containers.

Wait, wait, wait. IKEA sells glass ones for cheap? Because I just threw out a whole set from a fancy store where the lids did the exact same thing and I'm still salty about it. The plastic warped so bad after three months I couldn't even get them to stay on straight, and I'm over here thinking I'm the only one this happens to. That's wild that your old Rubbermaid ones from your mom are still going strong, it's like they used to actually make stuff that lasts. I might have to go raid my mom's cabinet too or just hit IKEA this weekend, because I'm done throwing money at these "nice" containers that break in the dishwasher.

@the_thea got me thinking because I used to swear by those trendy glass sets thinking they were the upgrade I needed. But after spending way too much money on lids that cracked within months, I started grabbing the basic IKEA ones and they actually hold up better. Funny how the expensive stuff is the one that lets you down, isn't it.
