From my trips, I've found that keeping and using tough old camping gear helps the earth more than always grabbing the latest green items. My sleeping bag from college still works great.

Seriously, that old tent loyalty is something else, @the_claire. Gotta ask though, have you checked the seam tape lately? That stuff can just peel right off after years sitting in a closet. A quick spray with some waterproofing spray on the rainfly might save you from a soggy surprise next trip. When do you finally decide a newer, lighter model is worth the upgrade?
