Pro tip: I swapped the aperture blades from a junked Pentax K1000 into a newer model and it actually worked for a week before sticking again.

I learned the old blades had a tiny bit of surface corrosion the cleaner missed, so has anyone found a reliable way to polish those super thin steel blades without bending them?

Saw someone use a cotton swab with metal polish once.

Wait, you got them to work for a whole week after that? That's wild. I would have thrown the whole thing after an hour of fiddling. @viola_allen, using a cotton swab sounds smart for control, but metal polish seems so harsh for something that thin. I'd be scared to death of leaving grit behind and making it worse. Maybe a tiny bit of oil on a microfiber cloth instead? Just a thought.

Ever tried polishing with a toothpick and shame?
