Am I the only one who quit taking shortcuts with film advance mechanisms?

I used to just oil them without full disassembly... it seemed faster. But then cameras would come back with the same problem. Now I do the whole tear-down every time. It takes ages, but nothing fails after I'm done. Still, some days I miss the old way, even if it was a bad habit.

Honestly, full teardown every time? @sarah_nguyen32, that's overkill.

See this same thing happen with other stuff all the time, like a quick fix on a leaky faucet. The proper repair feels like a pain, but you only do it once.

Ever try the quick fix and have it fail at the worst time? I was totally with @knight.dylan at first, thinking a full fix was too much work. But after my third band-aid solution fell apart, I finally did it right. That one annoying afternoon saved me so many headaches later. Sarah's totally right, the pain upfront beats the slow drip of constant problems.

That full teardown taking ages sounds brutal.
